Battening Down For A STORM

April 29, 2014 by Delta Force Paintball Australia

Melbourne’s infamously changeable weather has kept the outdoor recreation fraternity on constant guard lest there be a sudden onslaught that takes them by surprise, and unprepared as it flattens all before it. And today, the Melbourne Delta Force Paintball centre at Dingley was grateful they are always ready.

It wasn’t dark skies and the threat of high, destructive winds that had these experienced paintball professionals bracing themselves however, but a storm of another kind. The Melbourne Storm. With a total of 14 Melbourne Storm players selected for rugby league’s upcoming representative weekend, the Storm will be represented in the Australian, New Zealand, Samoan, NSW City and U20 sides. They may have been born during the tumultuous 1998 season but this is a team that has made serious impact from then through to the current day. This is a team of stars, a team of commitment to excellence, a team that accepts no substitutes or excuses, and these are the reasons Matt Ford, the Melbourne Storm NRL squad trainer brought the guys to Delta Force Paintball Dingley for a team building day today.

The Delta Force Paintball centre at Dingley is well equipped and experienced with dealing with high profile sports teams that beat a path to the amazing movie-quality game zones to enjoy a session of structured, morale boosting and team bonding so important to a winning side. The real life military aircraft, tanks, missile installations, and wild west gold rush provided a multitude of challenges and scenarios for the Melbourne Storm players as they applied their craft of football to the game of paintball. George Rose, like all his team mates, fought bravely against being given the target vest, but drew the short straw and found himself conspicuously in the crosshairs of his team mates more often than not, and as a result, the big front row prop found himself in the thick of the action most of the session.

The real purpose for the Melbourne Storm squad present today at Delta Force Paintball Dingley was to provide a moral boosting, team cohesion building day between the yet to prove themselves players such as Hunt, Robinson, Lodge, Walker, Kaufusi, Mann, Weston and Rose and the established players like Fonua, Waqi, Moors, Hinchcliffe, Chambers, Norrie, Garbutt and Glasby. If the smiles on the sweaty faces and the sworn oaths to return and play with Delta Force Paintball again are anything to go by, it would seem the day was highly successful in more ways than one.

River Boys ‘Terrorise’ Delta Force Paintball Appin

April 22, 2014 by Delta Force Paintball Australia

The infamous ‘River Boys’ aka the Braxton brothers of one of TV’s most popular ever soaps, Home & Away, arrived at Delta Force Paintball’s Sydney location at Appin on Saturday ready for trouble. Along with other characters from the long running show, two of the Braxton’s, namely heart-throb actors Lincoln Younes and Steve Peacocke were at Sydney’s best paintballing location bright and early. Also present was Summer Bay’s ‘hot’ new doctor, Dr Nate Cooper, played by the popular Kyle Pryor and, equally rated on the eye candy charts, Jake Speer who fronts as Oscar McGuire on the show.

Home and Away Corporate Day Delta Force Paintball

Accompanied by several members of the show’s production team, the Home and Away crew spent a morning and afternoon sessions enjoying paintball at it’s finest. Taking advantage of arguably paintball in Australia’s best deal, the players suited up with full Terminator Packs which gave them total protection and a whopping 1000 balls to spray around to their hearts content.

It was very encouraging for the Delta Force Paintball staff at Appin to hear the TV stars and their production experts remarking so favourably about the quality of not just the game play and professionalism, but also the high level of game zone sets and props. The incredible full scale Black Hawk helicopter on the Tropic Thunder field did, of course, impress, however, it was the Resident Evil zone and it’s game play the Home and Away crew chose as their favourite for the session, further exhibiting how a session at Delta Force Paintball holds the variety needed to make everyone’s session, a session to remember.

NOVA FM’s Extreme Karaoke puts singer in crosshairs

April 3, 2014 by Delta Force Paintball Australia

The NOVA FM team in Brisbane rocked up at Delta Force Paintball Petrie locked and loaded for a two-fold assault on Tuesday April 1.

Mission one was take Fraser from Daisy Hill out to the Black Hawk Down game zone and stand him in front of the full scale Black Hawk chopper dressed in the Delta Force std issue combat gear, and sing Pavarotti. Sounds simple enough, albeit tough in full head protective headgear. However, have the Delta Force Paintball staff, using one of their highly accurate upgrade paintball guns, unload on him while he’s singing and you’ve got seriously extreme karaoke indeed.

As the video shows, Fraser bravely sung on as the paintballs found their target time and time again, to the amusement of the onlookers. Fraser’s finale was highlighted with a twist of resolve amidst several low-blows that definitely set this karaoke mission apart from others.

Mission two was a short corporate event for the NOVA FM team, comprising of well known morning presenters Ash, Kip and Luttsy, the film crew and the marketing team all bursting to enjoy the amazing facilities on offer at Brisbane’s best paintball centre. After filming and recording Fraser’s performance, the Nova team underwent several hours of team building battle exercises on the incredible movie themed game map Black Hawk Down themselves. Operation Assassinate The President had the whole Nova crew in stitches as Ash, as team captain of his team, the Voodoo’s Vigilantes, was sent out with a huge target literally on his back. He’d later comment, “Wow this place is amazing, best paintballing I’ve been to.” Even the Nova girls, Mandy, Abby and Ange had a blast and were quick to defend the appeal of paintballing to girls as well as guys on air during the morning show the next day.

Luttsy, the die-hard Queenslander was nominated as ‘The President’, and therefore number one target, for having the gumption to wear a NSW Waratahs rugby jersey and was absolutely hammered out there because of it.

The upgrade guns on offer at Delta Force Petrie (and used against poor Fraser during his Pavarotti extreme karaoke moment) featured in the Nova FM combat also. Station manager, and the captain of the 2nd Nova team, KJ had a quiet word with the Delta Force staff earlier and made sure that his team was outfitted with the superior rapid rate DYE Proto Rail guns to ensure they had the firepower advantage on the field. It’s safe to say, the Nova FM team from Brisbane had a day they won’t soon forget and will remember with great excitement.

Military Safety and Security Training at Delta Force Paintball

February 13, 2014 by Delta Force Paintball Australia

The military style experience and movie-quality game zone prop combination that Delta Force Paintball offers has proven to be a useful resource for Australian military and security personnel. Such elements as full scale Black Hawk helicopters, real aircraft, village buildings, POW camps, buses and other excellently prepared scenarios come together to provide a training ground very well suited to safety and security training for our armed forces and related services.

Recently, as these images show from a day at our Paintball Melbourne location, security personnel conducted an intensive rescue and recovery day to gain competency in several required first aid certifications and a chance to practice and hone their skills in various scenarios to help ensure, in a combat situation, they leave no man behind.
Using a combination of their own and equipment supplied by the paintball centre, the rescue team were put through drills using the paintball centre buildings and props to replicate obstructions and cover similar to that which they might encounter in real world situations. In this way, the various teams are able to hone and polish skills needed to save the lives of those in their care.
The huge variety of locations Delta Force Paintball offers near most Australian state capitals for these purposes provides an impressive portfolio that includes dry sandy areas, dry sclerophyll eucalypt regions through to dense bush property. This variety, matched with the props and structures ranging from real double decker buses, military aircraft and various building types equates to not only a thrilling way to train or have fun, but a memorable and productive day as well.
